Maintain fixation on the center point. A brief flash will appear within a 5° radius disk (with a 0.3° central veto). Wait for the fixation point to disappear (0–1.4 s after the flash) before tapping or clicking at the perceived flash location. Responding early plays a warning tone, and if you do not respond within 1.5 s the flash will reappear at the same spot.
